Recommended For School Libraries

Library Lady's Kid Lit is a website run by Jane Mouttet that specializes in recommending books for school libraries. Jane is a retired librarian with a masters degree in Children's Literature who worked in school libraries for over 40 years.

We are grateful that Jane reviewed KidVenture: Twelve Weeks To Midnight Blue on her blog. Here is an excerpt:

To be honest, when I first started reading this I was expecting a dry book that taught kids something but wouldn’t really interest them. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Steve Searfoss writes an engaging story that draws kids and while teaching them how to start a business of their own. He also teaches the importance of math in Twelve Weeks to Midnight Blue.

Chance comes up with an idea for a business with a goal of earning enough money to buy the Midnight Blue bike in just twelve weeks. He learns about partnerships, employees, leverage, investments, and more as he works toward his goal. I hope Steve Searfoss has more books planned.

I recommend Twelve Weeks to Midnight Blue for any k-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for upper elementary and middle school students. I can see it being used as part of an entrepreneur class for this age group.

Read the full review on Jane's blog. If you are a school librarian or administrator responsible for picking which books to carry in the school library, you will definitely benefit from reading through Jane's reviews. She has a good sense, not only of which books have good role models for children, but are also books that kids actually want to read.
